The worst things about living in Iceland

The worst things about living in Iceland

We all know that Iceland is a country of beautiful nature and breathtaking views but we may find some flaws.

Iceland is an island so the transport is limited either with the food or with basic use products. You can have huge problems with ordering and buying stuff on the internet. The delivery takes a really long time and it is also really expensive! And to top it all, when picking up the package from the post, you have to pay half the price of the package, so for example when you buy some clothes for 150$ so you will have to pay 75$ to the post.

Everything in Iceland is really expensive. All of your money can go just for the gaz to your car! You can realize that for example when a good pair of leggings costs 50$ in the USA (which is still expensive), in Iceland it may cost at least 100$. But the country is so expensive because the minimal pay in Iceland is much higher than in Europe or in the States.

The weather in Iceland may be really extreme. Some people love snow and cold temperatures but the rain and hard wind can be really tiring. And the wind also makes you much colder than you would be without it.

Driving in Iceland especially when there's snow on the road, is really difficult and it takes a lot of practice. You have to be really careful not to slip off the road or hit other cars. What makes it more uncomfortable or even scary, you don't know whether the people around you know how to drive a car in such extreme weather.

Concerts for all the concert lovers may be a big problem. Bands that are touring all over the Europe may visit all the Nordic countries except for Iceland. The situation got better nowadays but in the past most of the artist didn't have a clue about Iceland.

  1. But they have their own music tradition and famous musicians. Even I have heard about Bjork or Sigur Ros.
